Denny and Jan have created the most wonderful "get away" you can imagine! Don't pass this up just because it might be "out of the way" or "out in the country". It is definitely worth the drive and the location is a large part of what makes it so inviting. Once there, you will be totally captivated with the inn, and best of all the absolute "privacy" of this B&B stay! The rooms are outstanding! For those of you who have not liked the B&B you've stayed at in the past because they lack privacy, this is definitely a different kind of B&B stay and you will have absolute privacy! Best of all, you will be fed gourmet meals fit for a king!
From the moment we entered the Mission Oak Inn until the hour we left we felt very welcome, both by the host and hostess and by the atmosphere. We have stayed at several B&B's and this, by far was the BEST! We are already spreading the word to anyone who might want to listen that if they want to experience a little taste of heaven, they need to make reservations at the Mission Oak Inn. Our one and only complaint with our stay is that Denny was way too good at feeding us. We are sure we are both up a few pounds, but it was oh so worth it. We have not experienced such an outstanding breakfast at any five star hotel we have stayed at in the past (including Europe). Thank you Jan and Denny for a truly wonderful weekend. We will definitely be back (if we can get reservations). Ed & Sue
I really don’t know where to begin. Denny and Jan are such wonderful hosts. They make you feel like you are part of their family. The room, what do I start with. The room is spectacular. We stayed in the Bird Lover’s Suite. We were able to enjoy the hummingbirds and so many other birds from our private patio. The whirlpool was large enough for both my husband and I to totally relax in. There was great mood lighting throughout the room. There was a comfortable reclining loveseat to watch TV or lay in a very relaxing bed to end the day. There was a relaxing CD in the CD player, microwave to pop some popcorn in with the popcorn provided and a mini-refrigerator to chill the bottle of wine we brought. Now on to the beautiful woodworking throughout the entire home that was just spectacular. Denny has a talent that is incredible and he is an incredible chef. I truly need a week to take off the cheesecake we ate each evening on the porch. Your breakfast was so delightful. Everything just melts in your mouth. My husband and I have been to 3 other B&B’s before this one and this is the only one that we scheduled a return trip. We just can’t wait to go back to lay by the fire and enjoy the scenic views, smells and sounds of the home away from home that Denny and Jan have carefully and lovingly made for each of their guests. You simply must go to the Mission Oak Inn if you want a very relaxing getaway.
This was our first time at a bed and breakfast and now we're hooked! Denny and Jan were two of the nicest, warmest and most genuine people we've ever met. We didn't know what to expect, but everything was better than we imagined. The suite and entire house was super clean, the land and lake was breathtaking and their hospitality was top notch. Denny is an awesome chef! The food alone will keep us coming back. We have recommended Mission Oak Inn to everyone. What a wonderful way to spend our ten year anniversary!
The accommodations were spectacular - so beautiful and serene. The food was super. It was like eating at a 5 star restaurant without the stuffiness. The chocolate velvet dessert is to die for (as well as everything else we had to eat). Thanks for the great fishing.
My husband and I were given a weekend as an amazing gift from a friend. Needless to say we reserved our weekend return in 2008 before we left. Denny (innkeeper) is an amazing cook and he did all the wood working on the inn. Architecturally this place is so warm and classy. Jan and Denny are very good Christians and that made us feel right at home. The rooms are perfect! I hope they build the cabin they were talking about by the lake. You have to try it!
Denny and Jan were warm and welcoming, the inn - classy, elegant and yet 'country' and 'at home' all at the same time.
My fiancé and I needed to have a night away from the world so we decided to try Mission Oak Inn.. What a night away from the world it was. From the moment we got there we forgot about everything going on back at home. It was instant relaxation. The fishing was incredible too. And the food.. There isn't anything that could be said to give the food justice. The same goes for Jan and Denny. They are two of the nicest people I have ever had the chance of meeting. Thank you for the amazing stay we can not wait to come back. Kyle & Jillian
In the past ten years, my husband and I have been frequent guests at B & B's in Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan and Ontario. B & B's are the only way to travel. After our recent stay in their Bird Lovers Suite, hosts Jan and Denny and their Mission Oak Inn now top our list of favorites. Just for fun, we booked the special occasion package which includes a special dinner, chocolate truffles, sparkling wine and other goodies. We had a salad, shrimp pasta dish and dessert that were out-of- this- world, as were the breakfasts. The room is beautifully decorated, well planned and extremely comfortable. There are great views of the private lake and the bird feeders which attract hummingbirds, finches, orioles, etc. and a pair of binoculars and a bird identification book on the mantel. Denny and Jan have thought of everything! There is a two person Jacuzzi, a walk-in shower, a microwave, small refrigerator, a two-sided gas fireplace and a reclining couch. Denny made all the beautiful quarter sawn oak furniture and cabinets in the Inn. Although there is much to do in Peoria and the surrounding area, you can't go wrong if you just stay on the Inn grounds and enjoy its many pleasures. Jan and Denny provide boats or fishing from the bank is good too. The fully stocked lake is catch and release. There is a dock, hiking trails, balconies and a beautiful natural environment. Jan and Denny are both extremely charming and hospitable. We enjoyed their company and their Inn so much we booked another visit in the fall before we left. And for those of you in the Chicago area, gas is over 50 cents a gallon cheaper and the Inn is only about 100 miles away.
